I went to PS1 to see the second part of the Olafur Eliasson show. They wouldn't allow photographs of the artworks, unlike MOMA, nor, as it turned out, did they even allow photographs of the stairwell. I since turned off the shutter sound. The most beautiful piece in the show was called "Beauty."

Frank London was generous enough to play a show for my band the other night!

Last night, Orchestra Baobab from Senegal played a free concert in Battery Park City. It was a part of a series paid for by American Express.

Saturday was the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

Playing the Building is an installation by David Byrne in the magnificently decrepit Battery Maritime Building, which serves as the entry to the Governor's Island ferry, where I also went today, but that is another story.

Restaurant Florent, open non-stop in the meatpacking district of New York since the 80s--back before the expensive shops, apartments, and restaurants, before the Apple store; back when it was just meatpacking during the day and, er, meatpacking at night in the form of transhookers--is closing. Florent and company are going through the 5 stages of loss, one week at a time until it finally closes on Gay Pride Day.

I only see things when they move.
